“FiberFusion Phase II” - March 2012
Rules and Summary ~ International Mural
To participate in the FiberFusion Phase II International Project it is required that you read carefully and in detail the following Rules and continue referring to them while working and mailing. This is the first and last “notice” - for all participants. All questions are welcome.
1. All works will be executed only on commercial 3mm canvas board and no other substitutes. Noting, that all measurements are metric.
2. DIMENSIONS/MEASUREMENTS: Available spaces will be distributed as each space is being allocated. (The mural is approximate 2.0 (two) meters height by 3.0 (three) meters in width), spaces are between 30.0X40.0
2.1 It is possible that the canvas boards may need to be adjusted to measure. To preserve its integrity, the board will have to be “enveloped” in its totality by the canvas (same as when purchased). See examples of the process in this same blog’s archives.
3. PLACES OF EXHIBIT: The show began in the City of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. Once the local event is concluded, it will become an Itinerant Exhibit visiting the city/country of each interested participant, hopefully traveling south through the Americas and onto Europe...
4. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
4.1 The individual work of each artist will form part of the collective mural; these are “connected” through a simple abstract design, employing 5 (five) basic FiberFusion color mixes which, will act as a common background (throughout if desired)
4.2 All works will be executed exclusively over standard, factory 0.3 mm thick canvas board as indicated above. The image and theme are free, carried out in the unique technique and style of each participating artist, within the parameters established in these Rules and Regulations.
4.3 The medium may be oil, acrylic or mixed; originals only. Preferably including some sort of fibre (they could be recycled). * No digital works will be accepted.
4.4 The maximum thickness of the work can not exceed 3.0cm. Its texture may cover almost all of the space, except for the 2.0cm margin border, being prudent to work towards it in gradual diminution. Must also consider to use light weight materials ...
4.5 The dimension & direction of each individual space varies according to its position within the mural. Each participant will receive by email, their space, in scale, within the general design, in addition to their corresponding background design and color(s) formula.
4.6 The image must be limited to/within a 2.0cm wide mandatory margin/border, using the given color(s). For example, if your space/area is of 30.0X40.0 cm., the image will be of a maximum of 28.0X38.0 cm., because its margin/border would be in the unifying/common mural colors and design.
4.7 The 2.0 cm. margin/border color(s), must be included in the image, at no less than 10%.
a) It is understood that when possible, even preferable, the allocated space color(s) may be used as background color(s).
b) It is also understood that if that if only one color is allocated - it may be monochromatic.
c) Should the design have two or more colors, the same is applicable, if one wants to work with the overall design.
d) The 0.3mm border/profile of the canvas board must also be painted with the corresponding colors.
To begin the work, a couple of FiberFusion gray coats (with or without geso) must be applied before proceeding - this will somewhat minimize the tone variations from the different manufacturers.
4.8 Briefly:
Thickness of canvas board: 0.3mm
Total thickness/hight of work: 3.0cm
Margin/boarder width: 2.0cm
Design and color of margin/boarder and/or background: FiberFusion mix
Use of FiberFusion color mix: minimum 10% of the corresponding one
Profile of canvas board: 0.3mm. must be painted (no grey or white visible!)
4.9 Works not complying with the specific requirements: exact measurements and/or proportions/design - as well as - those arriving damaged due to inadequate packing and, works arriving with Custom Fees or anything "pending" - will not be received either - thus forfeiting all rights and registration fees.
